On November 15th, at 1 pm, the Union of Editors will hold a meeting at IRFS press center. 

Taleh Khasmemmedov, a resident of Goychay region who reported  illegal activities of the Kurtlar Vadisi criminal group and on women trafficking occurring in Ujar region in October and November, has been arrested, reports the Human Rights Club (HRC).

On November 11th, members of the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of the embassies of Great Britain and Poland visited former parliamentary candidate and youth blogger, Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, who is being held in prison # 14.

On November 11th, at 12 pm, in the IRFS press center, Yasavul Law Company Director Aliabbas Rustamov will hold a press conference to speak about corruption in the judicial system.

On November 11, at 1 pm, the IRFS press center will host the opening of the Assistance to Democracy and Civil Society Development Public Union.

On November 10th, the Baku Appeals Court heard the appeal against the Nasimi District Court’s October 26 decision, which sanctioned official phone tapping.

 On November 10th, the Supreme Court of Nakhcivan Autonomous Republic heard an appeal  filed against Shahur Regional Court’s decision on IRFS correspondent to Nakhchivan Hekimeldostu Mehdiyev’s electricity appeal.

On November 3rd, the Baku Appeals Court heard the appeal filed by Khural newspaper editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli.

Today, Nasimi District Court held a hearing and decided not to grant the lawsuit filed by lawyer Khalid Bagirov against the Bar of Lawyers’ August 24th, 2011 decision to suspend his membership for one year.

The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety strongly condemns the politically motivated arrest of Khural newspaper editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli by order of the Azerbaijani authorities, and calls for his immediate release.
