The date for the trial of imprisoned Khural editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli has been set. According to Zeynalli’s lawyer Elchin Sadigov, the hearing will be held on May 14th in the Baku Grave Crimes Court. Judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva will preside over the hearing.

The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) strongly condemns the torture and harrassment of Khayal TV editor-in-chief Zaur Guliyev and executive director Vugar Gonagov by law-enforcement agencies. Guliyev and Gonagov were arrested due to their alleged role in the March protests in Guba.

 

On 24 April at 1pm, at the IRFS press center, Alakbar Mammadov, the head of the Center for Public Control on Armed Forces, will hold a press conference on the criminal case launched by the General Prosecutor's Office against Asif Latifov, a former officer in the Special State Protection Service.
