Today, 2 July, in the Garadag District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Ismayil Khalilov, a hearing was held on the criminal case against the Editor-in-Chief of Gundelik Azerbaijan and Realniy Azerbaijan Newspapers, Eynulla Fatullayev. 

Today, 2 July, in the Narimanov District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Rasim Kazimov, a hearing was held on the special format lawsuit of Yeni Musavat Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Rauf Arifoglu against Khural Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Avaz Zeynalli.

Today, 2 July, in the Baku Appellate Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Jamila Sefiyeva, a hearing was held on the appeal of student-journalist Elmin Badalov against the decision of the Nasimi District Court that was issued on the 5th of April, 2010. Badalov was dismissed from the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy (ASOA).

Today, 2 July, in the Narimanov District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Rasim Kazimov, a hearing was held on Presidential Administration Head, Academic Ramiz Mehdiyev’s lawsuit against Khural newspaper regarding protection of his honor and dignity and demand of payment for moral damage.

Today, 2 July, in the Sabail District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Kamale Amirkhanova, a preliminary hearing was held against the National TV and Radio Council (NTRC).

Today, 2 July, in the Sebail District Court, under the chairmanship of judge Kemale Amirkhanova, a hearing was held on the criminal case under article 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code against Aziz Ahmedov who injured journalist Zulfigar Kheyirkhabar physically.

The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) strongly condemns the interference in the professional work of the Azad Azerbaijan TV crew and physical assault against the TV operator and declares this as harassment against media. 

Today, 1 July, the “Azad Azerbaijan” TV (ATV) crew was not allowed to fulfill their professional duties in the Yasamal District Military Commissariat and correspondent Zaur Zahidoğlu and operator Ramin Shahbazov faced physical pressure.
