National TV and Radio Council Chairman Nushiravan Maharramli said that they intend to announce a tender to open new TV channels. Today, 4 February, he told the “Media forum” website that it is necessary to develop regional television stations. Recalling that parliamentary elections will be held in the country this year, N.Maharramli said that NTRC is trying to have TV channels in all regions of Azerbaijan.  

“One of the main purposes is to eliminate the need for candidates to come to Baku for propaganda on the eve of parliament elections,” said N.Maharramli, who added that after holding a tender regarding regional televisions, it is possible to consider the creation of a new nationwide TV channel.
IRFS notes that information regarding the opening of a new channel named “Nargiz” TV has been circling in the media for several months.
